Central Bureau of Health Intelligence (CBHI) is the health intelligence wing of Directorate General of Health Services(DGHS), established in 1961. The primary areas of work of CBHI are listed below:
Deals with collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of information on health conditions in the country through regular and ad-hoc statistical publications.
Conducts inservice training programs for Medical Record Officers, Medical Record Technicians through Safdarjang Hospital,New Delhi and Jawahar Lal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research , Pondicherry ; the programs of Orientation Trainings on Health Statistics for Medical officers, Health Statistics for Non Medical Personnel and on ICD 10 through its Regional Health Statistics Training Centre at Mohali, Punjab, six health information field survey units at Patna, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Lucknow and Bhopal, and also through established training institutions like NIHFW (New Delhi), CLTRI (Chengalpattu), AIIH&PH (Kolkota).
CBHI has six field survey units at Patna, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Lucknow and Bhopal located in the Regional Directorate of Health & Family Welfare in the respective places and these units carry out local field studies on health related aspects as per local requirements.
