|

Hospitals: An Institution which is operated for the medical, surgical
and / or obstetrical care of in-patient and which is treated as a hospital by
the central / state Government / Local Body or licensed by the appropriate
authority. |
|
|
|
Definitions: |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. General: All establishments permanently staffed by at least two or
more medical officers which can offer in-patient accommodation and provide
active medical and nursing care round the clock for 24 hours for more than
one category of medical discipline (e.g., General Medicine, General Surgery,
Obstetrics, etc.) |
|
|
|
2. Specialised: Hospitals providing medical and nursing care primarily for
only one discipline for a specialised disease / affection of one system
(e.g., Tuberculosis, Leprosy, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Cardiac, Mental,
Cancer, Eyes, ENT, Infectious Diseases, VD, AIDS, Maternity, etc.). The
specialised department administratively attached to a general hospital and
sometimes located in an annex or separate ward may be excluded and their beds
should not be considered in this category of specialised hospital. |

3. Teaching - A Hospital which is attached to a college recognised by
Medical / Dental Council for Medical / Dental Education. |
|
|
|
4. Isolation - A Hospital for the care of persons suffering from diseases
requiring isolation of the patient. |

Bodies- All established under special Acts of
Parliament, State Legislation and funded by Central / State or UT Government |

5. Private - All
Hospitals run by individuals or by a private organisatoin |

6. Voluntary
Organisation - all Hospitals run by a Voluntary body,
a trust, charitable society, registered or recognised by the appropriate
authority under central or state laws, Missionary Body and cooperative. |
